Hello and thank you for all of the love and support that you have given me over the last few weeks! I appreciate each and every one of your comments, prayers and well wishes ❤️.
Treatment two is in the books and I did surprisingly well. The side affects remained about the same and I survived the cold. I have lost quite a bit of hair but I have always been blessed with a lot of it. The folks that see me daily can’t seem to tell but its a bit rough to see all that is coming out. Hopefully the worst is behind me! The worst part for me is being hooked up for three days to the chemo infusion and by day three I am about ready to rip the needle out of my chest. Of course I always seem to have a bit of drama when it comes to needles and it took me three time for them to get it in there. I have also been able to continue to keep nutrition as a priority in helping fight this disease. I know Chemo is tough on the body and though the first few days are very rough for me to eat much of anything. One of the worst side affects is that it feels like I am swallowing glass with each bite. As the week goes on and it gets better. I am still juicing every day thanks to Dave. I am also eating organic oats, chia seeds and quinoa along with all of my fruits and vegetables. I will have round three on Monday January 20th which I believe will be the coldest day the we have had ne northeast Ohio in a long time!!! I will be bundled up like Randy from a Christmas Story including my electric hand warmers and heated vest that came all the way from Utah😊
I also have some exciting news that I will be part of some new treatment at the Cleveland Clinic. I qualified to receive a procedure called histotripsy. I follow quite a few different blogs, Facebook groups, Instagram pages who are all very helpful in keeping up with some new options in cancer fighting. Chris Beats Cancer posted a story in December and it talked about how they are sound blasting tumors away in a non invasive way similar to how they get rid of kidney stones. I will link the article for anyone interested because I am totally over simplifying it. I asked my oncologist if it could be a possible option to have it done because currently they are only using it on metastatic liver tumors. She didn’t seem very optimistic, gave both Dave and I the body language that she didn’t think it would be an option but did give me a referral to the surgeon. The clinic was great in setting up my appointments with surgeon on the day that I was already coming for treatment. I was also scheduled for an ultrasound to be able to see if the tumor was in a position that they would be able to get to easily. I was feeling optimistic that day, Dave was skeptical and didn’t want to get his hopes up.(total role reversal there!) The doctor was up front with us that 10% of people see positive results, some see no result. He also said that the current size of my tumor is too big to completely blast it but this would get a good chunk of it. The goal is that my body will respond to the disruption and try to rid it’s self of the tumor. This could also trigger my body to to the same thing in my lungs naturally since you are not able to do much there except rely on the chemo therapy. The doctor called us that night and said I was a candidate and that we would start the process of getting everything going. I will be having this done on Thursday January 30th and am so grateful that we did not have to battle our insurance to cover it! I feel like a 10% chance of this working is much better than the 1% chance that I had of having my cancer return so I am going to give it a shot! It will be a rough three weeks because my good days in between chemo will be given to this. I will start round 4 on February 3rd and keep you all posted on my progress!
Keep the prayers coming and I thank you all from the bottom of my heart. Peace, Love and Gratitude.
